An Exploration Through Transparent Realms

  • 'Autoportraits': An Exploration Through Transparent Realms

Diving into uncharted territory within portraiture, 'Autoportraits' emerges as an avant-garde collection that boldly defies conventions. Absent of human subjects, this series paradoxically plunges deep into the intricacies of human identity and character. Traversing the globe, it captures the essence of diverse locales, encapsulated within the windows of automobiles.

The allure of 'Autoportraits' lies not within the steel confines of cars, but in the covert stories whispered through these transparent panes. Each image weaves a tapestry of diverse cultures, inviting viewers on an introspective voyage through cities and societal nuances.

Parked on urban peripheries, these vehicular sanctuaries open windows into intimate worlds. Within them, a montage of possessions, artifacts, and traces of life paints a vivid picture—a testament to the complexities of human existence.

Beyond mere depictions of vehicles, this collection delves into our profound connection with these machines. Viewers are enticed on a psychological expedition, piecing together narratives of unseen individuals, challenging ingrained perceptions and stereotypes.

'Autoportraits' spans continents, a meticulous anthology of over 1500 photographs curated from global expeditions. From Germany to the USA, Japan to South Africa, each snapshot promises revelations waiting to unfold.

  • Debuting at the illustrious Verizon 140 headquarters in New York City, 'Autoportraits' premiered to acclaim in December 2018, curated by the discerning eye of Warren Marenco-Chase. Fifteen masterful prints on Baryt Paper and 85 digital images on towering 77” screens formed an exhibition that captivated audiences.

Subsequently, the Leica Gallery Munich echoed with the resonance of 'Autoportraits' as part of the well received IGNITION Exhibition, showing an updated 40 prints, resonating across media, imprinting their enigmatic presence upon the cultural canvas.

A book is currently in the planning process.
